Fremantle and Rottnest by Richard Morrell 1832
One of the earliest depictions of Rottnest in this sketch made by Richard Morrell in 1832. Morrell was a builder, farmer, postmaster and publican and was born in England on 29 January 1809 the son of John Morrell, a pioneer farmer at Northam, WA. Arrived on The Eagle on 19 January 1832. In August he drew this sketch from Church Hill in pen, ink and watercolour. He sent the drawing to his English friends, the engravers John and Charles Wilson and it was published in London in December 1832 Art Gallery of WA

Thomsons Bay by Colonel Edward Fox Angelo
Painted by Fox Angelo during his time as Superintendent of Rottnest Island. His son Leith Fox Angelo would also excel as an artist and a collection of his paintings is held at the Western Australian State Parliament building.
